    Hi All,

This is just a casual question, borne out of curiosity (or, alternatively, Gav's Thicko Question of the Week)

On any IDE device (HDD or CD), what exactly is the Cable Select position for ? I've either passed over it in the A+ book, or read it then forgotten.

Just that convention seems to dictate that you jumper the drive either Master or Slave, and VIOLA, thats it :!: But I was checking out the jumpers on a HDD today, and started thinking

<Note to self: Remember what happened the last time you tried that, Gav>

    Gav,

Always idly wondered that myself when swapping out hard drives and bunging them in. So went exploring and found the answer!

    Check that out.
