    @ Phoenix

you said you've built a few systems in the past. Do you just pay shelf price, or do you have trade accounts with any one?

I'm just pricing a new build for my mum to upgrade her from a lighting quick P3 850 with a massive 256mb SDRAM!!!!

I've priced up from Micro Direct and Aria.co.uk.

nah its nothing large scale like that, not much money in it trying to compete with the likes of dell and such

so just off the shelf components
although us techies know where to get decent prices, most home users would walk into pc world if they wanted a new processor lol

    i use

    overclockers.co.uk
    komplett.co.uk
    scan.co.uk
    aria.co.uk
    ebuyer.co.uk

generally OC.co.uk is cheaper than the rest, but occasionaly not :)

    so no trade accounts

Man did I really say that.Sorry Noel must have been one of my schizophrenic moments, and I'm surprised a better person didn't point out it was a little harsh. But you got the message at least :D

Man I'm just non the wiser as to what to do.I mean thanks a lot for all the links and that, but in a way this makes it even more bloody confusing lol, so much choice.
So much choice yet I havent got a friggin clue what to choose.

    Here's my requirements:

    - An average system that'll play today's and near future games adequately.
    - Decent CPU but not top of the range.I think I'll try one of thos afflon thingy me doos.
    -Lots of hard drive space.
-Allows up to 2 GB's of RAM.
    - oh the system must allow for two lcd's to connect to it.

Surprisingly I now want to be frugal in my spending.
