Hi all

Anyone used the new BDD2007 for deploying Vista and Office 2007 ?

At the moment i am stumped installed both BDD2007 and SP2 on my windows 2003 servers this then updates RIS to WDS and this is supposed to work in conjunction with BDD

So far i cant seem to find any info that explains it in simple terms for setting up and installing vista and office

Been on the MS site and looked over the documentation for it but just seem to be going round in circles

RIS was a doddle compared to this

Note that I havent read them as yet, I've just been gathering resources for when I have to try this out.

 

think i have looked at them all and come away more confused than i was before i started

There seems to be so many contradicting ways of doing network installs now

Bring back RIS all is forgiven

Im not really bothered about imagaing just now to many different types of pc used for that

Just need it to work similar to RIS ie with unattended install using an answer file

oh well back to banging my head off the desk ...lol



ADD anyone else going to be working on this soon and fancies sharing there knowledge feel free

Is it just me or is the documentation from Microsoft for this terrible ?

Not everyone wants to image a master machine sometimes we just want to do a network install the same as you did with RIS and an answer file ....dead simple .....not 2 weeks of head scratching and still no further forward

Has anyone else looked at installing Vista using these methods ?

Has anyone used this yet and got it all working ?

Been away from it for a few weeks after the tearing the hair out in frustation part got the better of me and now just started looking at it again

Decided to have another look at this is anyone else using it yet ? and would like to share anything they have learned so far

or even how many things have you smashed in frustration trying to get it to work

 

Crickey it's taken you nearly a year

 

You could cheat and run WDS in legacy mode (RIS)

 

Hasnt been on the back burner that long Have had a quick dip in and out over that time more a case of ok its been out for a while now thought someone on here might have used it by now seeing as nobody had when i originally posted about it

So any takers or does nobody use this for deployments ?
