So according to that resource, you need to know Vista configuration for the 601 exam... Vista isn't featured at all in the Meyers book :blink

I'm changing my aims to the 2009 material and exams.

Hi all, don't know if this has been asked/answered already, but is the 7th Edition of Mike Meyers' CompTIA A+ Certification worth getting if I have the 6th edition? I'm happy to buy it, but I'm just curious about how different it will be? Was the new one released to address a new exam style/structure?

    Thanks in advance

Yes the new one was released to address the new exams, the layout is a bit different and it does cover some newer material, i would say buy it as its relatively inexpensive compared to the 2 tests.

Hmm this is available on Amazon Kindle for $31.95. Would that be worth it? Has anyone bought that version? I wonder if you get access to the CD content that comes with the book?

Is the 7th edition still the best resource for the tests? I saw a review on amazon.co.uk that said the book doesn't cover windows 7,which is necessary for the exams.

It won't cover a specific OS, as comptia A+ is vendor neutral.

It may mention windows 7 as the book was written before windows 7 was released to the generall public but it will mention other operating systems in a bit more detail like XP and windows Vista.

Sorry to open up a rather old thread, but I was wondering if the Mike Meyers A+ Study Guide is still considered the "gold standard" of A+ study guides. One of my sons is considering studying for the certification and I thought I'd get an update. I already gave him the latest books I wrote (see my blog) but neither of them are the required "central tome". Thanks.

Thanks. I already sent a link to the book to my son. Looks like I'm dragging the next generation into IT hell. :tongue
