Not sure really. Might just make the computer fail to boot, might not do anything! Give it a go..you can always turn it back off :p

erm.... wouldnt that statement apply to you? sure theres a saying about casting stones....

Unfortunately, we dont know, because we dont have the full story, the documentation, etc. EVERY motherboard manufacturer/bios developer implements these things in slightly different ways. It might connect both drives connected to the relevant controllers into an automatic array. That might wipe your data. Or it might just enable the option so you can configure it. it might have no effect if you dont have appropriate HDDs connected properly. it might display a big 'f*ck you' on the loading screen. it might do anything at all. This isnt a black and white world where everything is the same.

My post was in regards to why people post ANSWERs if they have no idea what they are talking about...do you have some sort of bee in your bonet? If you find my threads irritating, dont post in them...sounds "logical" to me?
No it doesnt apply to me because i am asking a question. If it depends on the fully story documentation etc, then post that, there's no need to be an a$$ about it. I DONT KNOW about these things, hence my question.

and my point is that its rude to get pissy with someone who is just trying to help. Everyone who posts on any of the threads here are trying to help. The problem is, in this case at least, no-one, not me, nor DA, or anyone else, can be entirely sure of the result, unless you list every piece of equipment your pc has, how its connected, and the bios version. And even then, we would only know if we have exactly the same setup. To be blunt, theres no way of us to know the exact behaviour - we might, might be able to give a clearer idea if we have the same MOBO and BIOS version, but an outside factor could change the behaviour. The best we can do (in this situation) is to offer guidance and assistance in determining the solution.

And no, I dont find your threads irritating. Believe me, there have been people I find far more irritating.

Not having knowledge isnt an issue, but dont go getting pissy about people who are generous enough to spare their time responding to your questions. No-one here needs to give their time to help others. We dont get paid for it, we do it out of generosity, and the desire to give back to the community that helped us out. And dont go getting funny if we dont just hand you to it, we're trying to help you develop your skills so that, even if you dont have the knowledge, you can find or figure out the knowledge. This in turn will help us, since when we come to need assistance, you will have the tools necessary to help us out.

What Stoney said!! The main thing to take from this though is, Put more info in your post, and don't be a Tw@t when someone actually takes time to give you an answer. What DevilsAdvocate said wasn't useless he was just basically saying "try it and see what happens, worst case scenario you change it back"

Give it a rest will ya. I would prefer people DONT post if they do not give information worth reading..the smiley faces i put after that post...wasnt that an indication that i was messing around? Sounds to me like you're touchy for no reason.
I appreciate people who help and thats a fact, everyone who has helped me i have thanked, but when you ask a question and get a response which doesnt help at all, kind of counter productive isnt it? I appreciate his response but i still think that if you dont know the answer or something remotely close...why post anything?

Again...IF YOU NEEDED FURTHER INFORMATION why not just say so instead of getting itchy about it?

Further to this, please don't feel you have the authority to lecture me about morals and principle within a FORUM, because you do not. If you have SUCH a problem with the way i am, stop posting in the threads i create.

wow, just wow. IT, devil was helping you. He was telling you that it was ok to go in there and test it out for yourself. The best way for a tech to learn is for them to do the hands on themselves. The way I took it was you won't hurt anything if you do and you can reset it if it doesn't do anything. Don't assume someone isn't helping you because they did not give you detail information Like naturehills did in your other post. If your not sure about someones information just ask them.

I have to agree with what most everybody else said on this thread. Your question was answered with the same degree of completeness with which it was asked.

If you don't know how to ask a question correctly, why ask?

Ok then as this seems to be going on a but, it's time for some intervention before insults and the like go too far.

Keep it sweet and clean guys, otherwise the staff will be forced to moderate this thread.

    To the OP:
You posed a question and then get irritated that someone posted without giving an answer. Well hey, ask a question to a group of people someone will just say "Jeez I really don't know but you could try this ........"

I believe that's exactly what happened here and there was no justification in your response. If you do not give enough information about your problem then you will not receive the answer you want.

On a word of warning, if this thread does continue on it's current track, I will close it and start using the infraction system on those who it is deemed necessary.

EDIT: posted unaware of admins post. Apologies.
Because there's a difference in asking a question and not knowing what to include in re to information, and knowing the answer and what SHOULD be included in the question.

Anyway, like Thomas stated, this thread has gone to pot, so i will leave it at this. Alot of you have misunderstood my statement and have acted in a hostile manner, im not going to bother trying to defend it because quite frankly its not worth it. I purposely put the smileys at the 3rd post to avoid people thinking i was being rude. Obviously the smilies are not enough, spelling it out is the way to go i see.

I dont have an issue with any of you, and appreciate the help that has been provided to me, it has been invaluable. i truly feel though, that some of you have misunderstood what i actually posted in the third post..as a result fergal jumps down my throat and the rest jump on the bandwagon.

for the record add all the smileys you want that was still a pretty insulting statement. The issue most folks took was with the way you insulted DA not the question you originally asked. You say bandwagon I say backing up DA who was probably fairly offended by your post.
