Start with learning Network+, once you understand those basics then look to CCENT or CCNA. Don't do anything more than that until you are working with Cisco kit etc, you don't want to be too over qualified and under experienced!

Professor messer videos online, free and very good, then find a decent book to compliment them! I can't remember which one I used to read now, do a search on here though and you will find plenty of resource suggestions!
