I remember back in late 2006 / early 2007, in an old job, reinstalling sales laptops - from 2000 to XP SP2, so they could run activesync, and they could make use of their new smartphones.

Nope not moving to vista or windows 7. The only thing that we do keep thinking about every now and again is to stop using thick clients and move every one to thin clients apart from that we are quite happy using xp thank you very much. Dont even know if there is a vista/7 compatible netware client at the mo plus all the other bits n' bobs we use.

Yes you can, or should I say will be when the final product gets released. However I believe it will be limited like Vista installs, eg home to home or ultimate for home users, business to enterprise to Ultimate for work users.

As for 32bit to 64bit, no if you want 64bit (unless the version you're upgrading from is 64bit) it will have to be a clean install...

Thanks very much Ken, it frustrates me the way my laptop has a 64bit processor and 4GB of memory yet came with 32 bit Vista Home premium that only recognises 3GB. I'll do a fresh install of 7 once the first service pack comes out for 7. Cheers, James
