Are these certificates no good?

I notice that there have not been much in the way of posts recently in this area of the forum.

I'm interested to know whether this is because people don't see the point in obtaining these wireless certs.

    Morning! 8)

No, I haven't either but, reading the bumpf on the CWNP site, they look as though the books certainly will give a lot of info... and I like the idea of learning more about wireless.

If I go for them, I'll start off with the CWTS. Not sure if the Net+ would give enough background to start looking at the CWNA straight off.

Unfortunately, it appears Mr Coleman no longer visits CF; otherwise, I'd ask him for a view.

I was going to go for the CWTS, however I ended up doing a level 3 wireless course that was offered by Danconi and Coventry University.

Do you mind if I ask why you decided on that route, Ken?

Would it not be better (i.e. more recognised) to go for some of the Cisco certs ?

    Morning Kevin! :D

Umm... could be... but I was looking for something more 'vendor neutral' as a starter for 10. However, I can now see why perhaps the CWNP certs may not have the pull that I thought they might...

    Thanks for the info.

I guess he could, however those Cisco need to be renewed every 2 years as well as you have to have a valid CCNA or above as a pre-requisite.

Plus I believe that the CWTS does not expire and it doesn't have any pre-requisites.

    Hi Ken.

Yes, I saw the 2-year renewal, but I wasn't sure from reading the page if you did need the CCNA first. Thanks for the further clarification.

You're right about the CWTS by the way.
