...in the same way that we (as prospective employees) are supposed to be?

I only ask 'cos two of our finest have come to a business arrangement and are working together quite happily (it seems, only the one that used to post reasonably infrequently now seems to have a lot of time on his hands and the one who used to post all sorts of intriguing questions has gone strangely quiet...)

Q: Do IT employers view this site?

    Q: If not, why not?

    Discuss.

It depends what you mean by IT employers? I have people working for me and should they leave I would be involved in recruiting their replacements. Does that make me an IT employer? :blink

    No.

Employers ALWAYS have the upper hand.
They make us jump through hoops.

    YOU are an IT geek.
The person interviewing you is not.
Do not try and impress them with too much technical stuff, because they will not understand...

I interviewed someone today, I don’t have the final say but I was asked to find out what the technical level of the candidate was.

It was all going well until he didn’t know what an I.P address was, “That number thingy you ping” :blink

    Anyways back to topic....

Heeheeheehee (descending into a coughing fit, I've had the lurgy).

I'll bet that was the last question when the candidate had relaxed.

I remember a question I was asked in an interview for a PhD studentship which was 'Can you see a problem with ethics?'

To which I replied ' No, but a can't stand those b*stards from thuthex'.

Probably one of the many reasons why I'm on this forum. :biggrin

IMHO is the correct technical term.

If you don't speak "thingy and whatyabob" then you should not be in IT!
