Anyone out there completed any of the Apple certificates?

Apple Certified Help Desk Specialist (ACHDS), Apple Certified Technical Coordinator (ACTC), or Apple Certified System Administrator (ACSA)

Same as wagnerk said. Soon as I'm finished with MS certs and my local college has switched to prometric.

I've got two books, 'Desktop and Portable Systems' and 'Mac OS X Support Essentials'. Only had a skim through quickly but looks to be well written.

My interest has largely come from my positive experience moving over to a macbook as my primary pc at home. Even if Macs aren't in use at the next company I work for I still figure knowledge of the Unix stuff in Mac OS X as something useful to have.

 

I've supported Macs before, but only rarely... for three client companies, each having a small handful (single-digit numbers) of Macs. As a result, I don't have a great need or desire to certify on it.

 

Same as Hailstorm, I moved over to a Macbook at home and find it much better for the usual things (web, email, video editing etc).

The design guys at work have a nice suite of Mac Pro's, but they're an external company so I don't get to support them..

 

I am somewhat interested in taking the course for Apple Certified Help Desk Specialist. I always think about it but at the moment I dont have the need to support mac's as the company I work for is 100% windows based.

Maybe somewhere down the line I'll start studying for it.

I've just got a job today and it requires me to deal with apple computers 99% of my time. I thought it might help me out to prove myself better in the company and get some good performance reviews by the end of probation period if I get certified. Has anybody ever started working on these certifications? If so, what would you recommend as studying material?

I know this is an old thread but if you do want any more information about these qualifications I can respond as I do have the ACHDS and will get the ACSA eventually for 10.4 also.. (Even though 10.5 is almost out).

I self studied for the ACHDS and used a Peachpit Press book to do this as these are the only officially validated books by Apple (Look for Peachpit Press on Amazon or by Author of Schoun Regan)...

Worth doing, as its something a little different..

This is a weird thread.

Just to point out, if Apple really did kick ass then it would be Apple used more than Microsoft.

Now I am not gonna get into the debate of wether Mr Gates stole DOS and marketed as his own product, the plain and simple fact is he was more clever than the other guy.

And thats why Microsoft dominates Apple.
