Just received an email from [email protected] stating the following:

"Congratulations on earning your Windows Server 2008 Core certification! We hope you enjoy the benefits of your certification and of membership in the Microsoft Certified Professional community.

WHAT IS NEXT? Visit the MCP member site (www.microsoft.com/mcp) to download your new logo, certificate, view and share your transcript, and access additional MCP resources".

When looking at my transcript the following entry is listed at the top:

    Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate

    Certification Number: XXXX-XXXX
    Certification/Version: Windows Server 2008

    Achievement date: 04/16/2012

I haven't sat any Microsoft exams for over 18 months! Has anyone else experienced similar?

Cool, congrats. I take it that you are/were a MCITP: SA to begin with? If you were/are, can you check to see if you still hold that credential please. As it looks like that the (new) MCSA and the (old) MCITP: SA are the same exams.

It doesn't look as if the holders of the MCITP: EA are affected by this.

EDIT: I've just received the e-mail too. I'm also a holder of the new MCSA (Yay!) and an old MCSE: Security for 2000 (must have missed that one).

However I can't download the new logo or order the new cert as it's not there yet.

Glad it's not just me Wagnerk (thought for one minute I might have been awarded someone else's credential!)

'Pro: Windows Server 2008, Server Administrator' is still listed under 'My Certifications' on the main page, however this latest credential isn't. Like you I can't downloaded the certificate or logo.

Not sure whether this replaces MCITP: SA or not, although I'm sure in the course of time all will become clear!

I have also received the above credential, but I only have MCITP EA and MCITP EDST, not MCITP SA. Is this an error or do those with EA cert also qualify for the new MCSA?

All the info I can find relates to MCITP SA automatically becoming the new MCSA, there is no mention of MCITP EA.

    Many thanks,

Don't know, but I'm not complaining if MCITP: EA's get the new MCSA credential. It just means that in 3 years time I have to renew it if I want to.

I agree Jim. The old MCSA/E structure was a lot simpler, although with the newer specialist exams at least it means people can concentrate on specific areas they are interested in/good at!

Having thought about it this morning, the new MCSA credential must replace something we already have as I can't see Microsoft just dishing out certs to people for no reason!

I got the same email as well although I can't seem to see my transcript at the moment as the MCP site is not behaving.

Just letting you know that I've logged on to the MCP site and this message is there:

I guess that's when we can download our new certs/logos...

I can see what they are doing, they are taking the onus away from one particular OS with their certs. It's possibly a genius idea, but on the other hand, as someone who potentially hires people, its getting harder for me to instantly look at a CV and think 'oh right well if they have this cert they should know XYZ so I'll quiz them on that in the interview'. That said, I do like change and it probably just seems a bit unclear because I'm new to the concept. I do applaud the 3 year rule as I've always felt it is what has kept Cisco certs so highly regarded for all of these years. (All IMHO)

Here's one for you. I'm about to finally get around to my 2003 to 2008 upgrade exams. Is it possible for me to be an MCITP now? Or will I skip straight to an MCS*? Also, what level is an MCITP:EA in the new structure?

I assume that you can still earn the MCITP credential as it's still live. So far (I am be wrong) that you if gain the MCITP: SA (or maybe even the MCITP: EA) you automatically get the new MCSA as well as it's not version specific.

It also looks like the MCITP track will only be for 2008/2008 r2, future technology tracks will be replaced with the MCSA/MCSE, see here.

Looks like both MCITP: SA and MCITP: EA maps to the new MCSA.

Well it's the 25th now, has anyone been able to download the new logo and/or download or purchase their new cert? As I have not been able to.

Don't want to log a job with the MCP helpdesk if everyone else is experiencing the same issue.

It's on my transcript today. The logo anyway can't see a new certificate.
