    Well actually it's EDTV/HDTV mode...

I've been off sick for the last couple of weeks, so I haven't been able to use the Wii (so no, it's not man flu). So in the bouts of "awakeness" that I've been having, I've been reading the manual :hhhmmm

The Wii actually supports EDTV/HDTV mode which is 480p, not quite the 720i or 720p of HD but alot better than the 50Hz or 60Hz (this is my current set up) according to reviews. Bought the Wii HD AV Cable and hopefully will see the difference when it arrives and when I'm better :)

If you already know/play the Wii in this set-up what do you think about it?

A couple of girls I know play it in HDTV mode, it's slightly sharper and more defined especially on wii sports (I think, the one with the baseball peg people).

It's not as good as the xbox360 or PS3 though.

I've not seen it in action myself (as I don't even have a Wii)...

...but I was in Gamestop just today, and I overheard the GameStop employee on the phone, saying, "To be honest, I wouldn't recommend buying the HD Cable for the Wii, because even side-by-side next to a normal TV, you won't likely see much difference."

Sorry to be the bearer of the potentially bad news... for your sake, I hope he's mistaken.

I forgot to add 480p isn't that far of CRT or normal resolution anyway but you can notice the difference in sharpness on a big TV.

I've seen a couple of comparison vids on youtube and the EDTV/HDTV version is a little bit better, ok we're not talking super crisp quality but for the sake of £4.60 for the lead (got it on sale). We'll see... :hhhmmm

Well I've finally got my Wii running in HD mode, after buying a second proper Wii cable this time (the first one I thought was faulty, however the cables colours were coloured wrong  ). There is a slight improvement, however I believe due to the games that I have, I'm not seeing the full benefit (games that I play include: Wii Fit, Raving Rabbids, House of the Dead, etc and not graphic intensive games like Call of duty for Wii, etc). One day I may buy a game that take full advantage, but until then, I'm happy with the quality :)

I've misplaced my HDMI to HDMI cable which I was going to try with the Wii. Unfortunately my XBOX360 needs some extra gizmo from a third party to work with my Sharp Aqueos as it's an older XBOX360.

Anyway, if I fidn the cable and have a play this weekend I'll post the results (apparently MoH Heroes 2 is well Wii optimised so I'll give it a go).

And yes, ken, shake off whatever bug you've got m8 ! Dose up on vitamins and a bit of fresh air maybe :biggrin
