I'd guess not, Firthy, as Si only created the sub-Forum after you asked. Are you thinking of taking it ?

I was considering it, as some businesses do use a flavour of Linux and I thought that it might be a good qualification to have.

I havn't even looked into it yet to be honest
    I am considering it though

but i want to get the MCSE2k3:S and MCSE2k3:M out of the way first!!!

i might move straight into the RHCE being i have a pretty good basic understanding of linux already

I thought about it but after sitting the Network + exam said I would never sit another CompTIA exam until the quality of the exam questions got A LOT better.

I would recommend you have a look at www.lpi.org and their certification route or www.redhat.com and their offering. From a commercial point of view I'd go the Redhat route.

Certification in the Linux arena is not as mature as Microsoft.

I thought about it. I sat at the pc one night & got a distro of Linux up & running. Once I'd finished, I wondered why I'd bothered!

    Hiya

    Yeah i've got Linux+

Its not bad for someone new to linux, but if you have some experience you might want to look at LPI or RHCE/T, although they are alot harder.

I enjoyed studying it, as i was a newbie to it at the time, and at least i can say i have one linux cert :dry

    Yup, I do too...

It's a good cert/course to take if you're new to IT and Linux...
It gives you something to bite your teeth into, but if you're a more advanced Linux administrator go for a more advanced and specific cert i.e. RHCE

For any newbies who want to see what is all about I can recommend these courses although there are no qualifications at the end

    http://ce.bromley.ac.uk/linux/

They are about £80 a course but very imformative, with good notes. The tutor will also make sure questions are answered in the sessions and were they are not he will happily Email or give you the answers in the next session.

Also you do not have to do them all, you can pick and choose.

I never did the install course but the rest I found interesting, but you still have to learn a lot yourself.

There's also a set of nifty, free Linux tutorials to be found here! Just start at the top and work your way down. You'll learn quite a bit about basic linux along the way. A good place for a Linux newbie.
