    As the post says.

I am due to take the new N+ in August even though I already have the previous one, just wondering if anyone has any tips on remembering IPv6 addys since they are a hell of lot different IPv4 ones.

by the way I meant how they are constructed aswell as how to remember them.

Honestly for me, reptition works really well, but not always for others.

I suppose if I keep writing out IPv6 addresses then at some point I'll remember them. Good point thanks

You know what it is, for me studying the 291 and doing the subnetting stuff can get confusing and when I do the exercises over and over it just sticks, I am sure not everyone is the same, some people need more interaction or maybe a different method of doing something but you just have to try different techniques really.

    I see what you mean.

I have never looked at the 291 so don't know how far detail wise the subnetting goes but for some reason I have always been able to do binary and think I am okay at subnetting and I suck at maths.

the 291 does not go as far as the VLSM which you learn on the CCNA stuff but it does have a good level of detail when it comes to subnetting. Part of the reason why is because the questions they ask require you to know some subnetting in order to answer the questions.

Is it the same sort of subnetting that is done on the N+ like host addresses, network IDs and Broadcast addresses?

most of the network stuff subnetting is on the 291 actually... I think the book goes a little more complex in terms of dealing with the class b sunet masks and splitting the network into more subnets, etc... the book is more mathematical than anything if you ask me... they use basic formulas to describe their calculations... but like I said its very basic nothing to cry about.

I take it that it will go into multicast etc then? since the N+ is only class A,B and mainly C.

You should definitely consider it, after all you need it for the MCSA/MCSE which I am guessing you want to get :biggrin ... I've been on and off for a while now, but now things are different, I actually work with these technologies so I figure why not go for it, it's the perfect timing!

Once I do the Network + again I am gonna do the 70-270 before anything else since it's totally what I am involved in workwise at the moment.

Why on earth do the Network+ again ? Are you desperate to throw £150 away or something ?
