Just curious whether there are any online university in UK will accept IT Certifications for degree credits.

    Please kindly advise.

Not sure but my gut reaction would be "no" given the propensity for braindumping etc.

In the case of my MSc I could apply for exemption in subjects based on experience/certs but this would have entailed an interview (and lots of questions) from faculty staff.

You'd probably be better taking the view that if you have the certs and there's an overlap with course units then you get an easy ride and should excell in assignments/exams :biggrin

Some Australian Universities offer this, I'm not aware of it in the UK, however its quite common for experience to be used for part credit for an MSc.

Its not that bad when you look at going part time at other uni's.

I'm not sure about grants but you could always do what I did and get your employer to sponsor you. Besides your loaded you Dazza :D

Excellent find JK :D I would have voted for you for the new member award as this website has just realised how many options I do have, taking into account that I could get an interest free grant to cover these kind of expenses

None the less really good find JK I take my hat off to you :thumbleft rep given!

Perhaps have this thread pinned??, as it seems like a really important issue to be emphasized on the forum as it is encouraging someone to get the certs as it proves how useful they are and to be used at that much of an advantage with higher education!! that has even amazed me that they can be used to attain/start these higher education degrees.

i'm doing BSc (Hons) Information Technology & Computing with the OU.

Started in October, just finished the first assignment and i'm finding it really interesting so far. The course I am doing at the moment is M150.

I got a grant for the whole course, so it's not costing me anything, so I would be crazy not to do it.

I am in the same position, i haven't applied yet, how long do you expect to take to complete your degree.

I wonder if it will be too much with work and my MCSA

Likewise, i'm studying MCDST too, as well as the degree.

I reckon it will take 2 / 3 years. You have to take certain mandatory modules and there's some electives - something for everyone. It's really comprehensive and covers a lot of topics. Just coming up to some of the programming stuff now. There's great support, from tutorials you can attend at local colleges to great online support and forums.

I am really glad I decided to do it. I am determined to complete it, but if I don't I will still have learned a lot and it won't have cost me any ££

    I can't recommend it enough.

I might bump my Foundation Degree in Business upto a Degree when I'm out of work as it wouldn't cost me anything. The only problem is most of their IT degrees have some sort of programming element which I don't think I could do.
