Another interview

Well it's been a while but I was surprised yesterday to be asked to attend an interview this week on Weds and Thurs for a school network manager position (talk about short notice !).

I'm not used to this type of drawn out process over two days so I'll be doing my homework right up to the last minute to make sure I make the best impression possible.

Apparently the candidates will know the result on Thurs at 5pm after the final interviews. Here's hoping ....... !

Doing final prep for interview now and then off at 9am for the first day of it !

Ho-hum..... still job-hunting

After a mammoth 2 day session with 5 interviews on the second day, I didn't get the job.

Generally my feedback was positive tho’ I was irked by a few of points :

1) They didn’t want it too technical as they weren’t and then said in feedback I wasn’t technical enough !

2) They wanted people from a business background, asked how working in education was analogous to a business environment and then didn’t like it when I said that staff, parents and pupils were effectively “customers” of the ICT support function

3) They wanted clear direction of the ICT function yet didn’t seem to grasp what changing a helpdesk to a service desk meant and what a FITS structure (ITIL for schools) could bring

Oh well, at least i know what to expect if I get interviewed at a school again.

Got another interview today just for a few days contract work - could prove to be more hassle than it's worth re Jobcentre as it's only likely to be 3/4 days at most as it's really just consultancy to look at what a company has got after they've severed a support contract. They're not interested in appointing anyone either but hey-ho, we'll go along and see what pans out.
