    Hello everyone!

I'm Lyndsay and I'm new to the forum! Been reading a lot of your posts for a while so it's about time I signed up and joined in! :biggrin

Well, a little about me - I'm actually a Travel Agent living near Brighton who is looking for a HUGE change of career. I've always had a keen interest in IT, and am looking to take it further. I'm really interested in a career in Web Design or Web Development but at the moment am getting a little bogged down with all the different courses and opinions and am finding it hard to know where to start! I have taught myself a bit of HTML code (from books) and am able to build (basic) websites using Dreamweaver so far... but I think this is just the beginning!

But here seems like a good place to start, so I really look forward to chatting to some of you and picking up some tips!

So, I welcome ANY advice you may have, and hope to speak to you all soon!! :inc

Hi Lyndsey, nice to have you with us. Sounds like the CIW might be the course for you. Check it out:
    http://www.ciwcertified.com/

In my humble opinion you don't need to pay a training provider a few grand to get certified, you can self study for buttons in comparrison :)

Hi & welcome to CF :)

Apart from the CIW, you can also look at vendor specific certs like the ACA in Flash and Dreamweaver. To help with your basics, 3Schools offer free tutorials. But remember in web development it the portfolio that is needed :)

Good luck in your change of career.
