    Hi

I'm going the self study route with the A+ and I'm a little confused by the 1st chapter review question.

The question asks: What do registers provide for the CPU?

The stated answer is B. The CPU uses registers for temporary storage of internal commands and data.

From the authors own description of registers I had the impression that the registers were the actual proccessing part of the CPU, the part that does the maths. Am I wrong?

The arithmetic logic unit (ALU) is the part of the CPU that does the maths.... that is correct that registers are a temporary storage unit...

Thanks for the speedy reply Zimbo. I will have to go and re-read this chapter because that didn't seem to be what he was saying when describing the register.

    Cheers
