Just wondered how old everyone was when they got there first cert?

I must have been around 22/23.

once we get a few answers will add them up and see what the average age was.

    Certifications: A few.

Didn't start in IT until I was 31, then stayed at the same place for 12 years where the employer didn't have any interest whatsoever in certification of employees. (Did mange to get my MBCS whilst I was there, but nothing else...)

Started mine in 2010 at the ripe old age of 43...

    Certifications: B.Sc.(Hons), MBCS. MCP (271,272), MCDST, MCTS (680), MCITP:EDST7, MCSA:WIN7, MCPS, MCNPS
WIP: 70-686, then onto MCSE: Desktop Infrastructure via MCSA: Server 2012...

Going off thread here but did you find getting the MBCS worthwhile? Apart from joining BCS do you need to do anything else?

Knowing what I do now, I wouldn't bother with the MBCS. As I said, working where I was and having no Certs, it was an 'alternative'.
It's not quite as easy as 'just' joining as you do have to prove a certain level of knowledge & achievement to become a full member. It also costs - just over £100 a year now. It's just one of those situations where you're loathed to let something lapse that you worked for and achieved. But vendor Certs are much more worth your time and money IMHO.

EDIT:- Mine was 271/272 on the same day, so from nothing to MCP & MCDST.

Early 30's if I recall correctly and that would have been the A+. I was an IT Tech at the time and wanted to do them to enhance my knowledge and employability a little. Had already been in IT a couple of years at that point.
