    Hi CF,

Boss is on my case to get the CEH booked and has left the works credit card on my desk tonight  (good job I'm an angel!). After I've bought my yacht, can anyone recommend a CEH course provider they thought did a good job please? Doesn't matter where its based as long as its in the UK.

    Thanks

    Jim

Doesn't work like that for me mate. I get what ever I need within reason TBH. If its something they paid for I get the time off on them, car, travel etc but I don't get time off for these MS exams and study cos my previous employer paid for all that, so I've been using my holidays as and when I needed more time. No biggy cos we had the baby this year so we aren't going abroad and I get 30 days plus lieu days etc.

I've been exceptionally lucky this year because I changed employers. I basically had a few grand off the last firm in exams and official MS courses and now I'm getting this from my current employer. I'm very fortunate and thankful for the connections I've made in my 10 years in IT .

    That is really cool mate.

Training is one of the reasons why I joined my new company, as well as more money and a promotion!

Seriously though, we get 10 days per year, I have 5 days training in London on the Xenapp 5 to become a Citrix Certified Administrator this year and I will probably do some MS stuff next year either on Server 2008 or Exchange 2007.

We don't really get any on the job training as every one is far to busy. It can be frustrating when I using a new application (to me) like Websense today, which I figured out how to unblock website, but then the https part of this website was blocked and I did not have the time to investigate it, so I had to wait until someone was not busy to show me why, whilst I got on with something else.

I found out you have to add :443 as well.

Anyways, we are lucky even getting courses. Most people get an exam paid for if they are lucky :D

Thanks mate. I've bit off more than I can chew putting the CEH down plus I've already done the CPTS but I'll just get it booked tonight. If no one comes back to me I'll just pick who's closest.

My work is up and down and we go where we are needed, which is fortunate as I get slow periods and fit the odd 20 minutes study in once occasionally twice a day in work.

I love coming across something I've never seen before. Know your ports my old boss used to tell me, its helped me in work and exams. I'm surprised there's not a thread on here stating the most common port numbers, 110 POP3 that kinda thing. Its one of the 1st things I look at with a network problem I can't explain.

You're doin great Craigie. Fast Track, can't beat it.

Nice one Pete. Hey mate did you get your CPTS cert through? Its been 6 weeks today and I haven't so I've emailed them. Boss paid for that so I'm gonna do it that way. Got the code from the EC-Council a while back before I knew they'd pay cos I was gonna do it myself. Much appreciated, Jim

My CPTS cert took ages to arrive and I had to pester them a lot - I think their UK office number never worked so I ended up going through their US office. Had the same problem just recently with EXIN for my SCNS cert - it took 3 months just to get a digital copy!
