Oh don't get me wrong, I'm liking it a lot. This is the first exam that's made me understand how the structure at my company works, which is awesome.

I just seem to be wading through a lot of filler at the moment (how to audit, the difference between locked and disabled accounts etc etc) which I already know.

You seemed to knock out the 290 pretty quick, any tips? (And no, I'm not looking at your study guide )

Exactly ha ha but only if you work with the product which I do. Tried to Wing 70-351 ISA 06 after just reading 1 book and playing with it for a few days with disastrous results

Mine too because it was my first Server exam. Much more interesting than client exams IMO :D

I think that's the main reason why I'm liking it so much too.

...Hold the phones people!! Creating groups in AD

Ha ha and I love AD! I'm almost gutted I'm aiming for my MCSE: Security because it means I have to do the Security Design exam 298 instead of the AD Design one 297 :(

I think I just learnt something new...

Security Groups are for.... securing network resources (with permissions)

    and

Distribution groups are for.... email distribution lists.

...Nope. Might skip to chapter 5 :p

You'll find the more study you do on Server OS's, the more stuff overlaps so you can skim whole chapters. 290, 291 and 299 have quite a bit of overlap, and apparently 293 goes with that lot too :D Happy days

Started working in IT on the 2nd June 2008, completed my MCSE in the middle of May this year, so just under 12 months.

My wife has turned my PC off, no more VPN for me

Ah ha ha ha thats brilliant. Highly skilled, trained IT Professional, stopped in his tracks cos his wife plugged the hoover in where the Lab used to be

Under 12 is great mate, thats what I'm aiming for. Its a lot easier if you've worked with the stuff isn't it. That said I still struggled to pass 291 . . . .

I hadn't actually used all the stuff before, I knew about AD and how to reset passwords, map network drives and a few other things, so was ready for the MCDST, apart from that it was all new to me.

I didn't do anything crazy like you mate, two exams on one days, you have some big kahoonas :D

In this new job, it is full on, from 08:30AM until 17:45PM when I leave, we get 30 mins for lunch, I do try and do some studying, but sometimes my head hurts!

Go are the days where I used to live 4 mins from work (now a 16 mile drive) and I could study at work as well. Put this is the price you pay for entering Third Line :D

For instance today, I did a CBT Nugget video on the CCENT, whilst sorting out an issue where you could'nt access Public Folders in Exchange System Manager, Exadmin had inherited SSL Cert which had been installed and had to be taken off.

I'm very lucky because I work shifts I get good time off to study so I do 10 hours a day on my days off quite often. Like you say mate, I'm getting it in now because my workload is growing and growing and by the end of this year I won't be able to pick a book up let alone pass an exam
