Hi folks,

just working through the LAN chapter in the new Meyers book and just want to double check I have got this right - the
802.11g standard supports data throughput upto 54Mbps and range of 300 feet.

I gave the above as a correct answer in the end of chapter questions but the answer is given as a throughput of 11Mbps and range of 300 ft is this an errata ?

Hm - 11Mbps is the 'b' standard, not 'g'. It could be a typo. Why not check the MM site - he is usualy very good at owning up to typos.

Thanks Harry - checked the Meyers site already and its not listed as an error but the books new so maybe hasn't got on the site yet - you have answered my question though - looks like I get another tick on the end of chapter questions !

 

He has a forum there as well. It might be worth posting there. You never know, you might get a name-check for spotting an error!

I have got the Mike meyers book
a guide to A+ Managing and Troubleshooting PCs

on page 857 under the Network Chapter it states:-

802.11a 54Mbps 150 Feet 5GHZ

802.11b 11Mbps 300 Feet 2.4GHZ

802.11g 54Mbps 300 Feet 2.4GHZ


Hope this helps, but I would agree with Harry, it must be a typo
