Hi guys just wanted to share that I passed the 70-680 on monday :D

Now I don't know what to do.. I've been looking for an IT job for a while now and will continue to do so. I found the 70-680 quite a bit harder then my previous Win XP exams. I feel that with out the experience of working in IT the Win2K3 server materials may be a bit of a push for me right now....??? (opinions welcomed)

I was thinking maybe I should do something else that is more entry level....
CCENT maybe?? or otherwise I would like to learn linux a but better maybe Linux+ and have also considered Sec+.

Can any offer any advice on these options...... or should i just continue the MS path i'm already on..... (i am only 2 exams from MCSA i just feel it might be premature to attempt these yet)

    Woah slow down! :D

First of all, congrats on the pass dude.

I'd say slow it down a little bit, you've got an A+ N+ MCDST & MCTS - but you've no experience, you could run the risk of being "over qualified" as they say. Employers want to see experience on your CV. if you get an MCSA, you'll have the cert with no experience, which no employer is keen on, and at the same time you risk going for an entry level job, them looking at your CV saying "oh he's got an MCSA, he won't stick around long"

If i was you i'd focus on the jobs now, and try to land your foot in the door, you've got plenty of time to do exams, jobs come and go quite quickly with IT.

not many jobs within IT are based on linux, and if they are - you're going to be a linux specialist who has worked with it for years.

Either way, whatever you decide to do, good luck :thumbleft

You might as well look at the 70-685 and 70-686 exams to give you all the Windows client exams

The 70-270 "Installing, Configuring, and Administering Microsoft Windows XP Professional " would be worthwhile as it counts towards MCSA and MCSE whihc you may consider in a year or two's time and lots of companies are still in using XP

Another angle that you could also look at is the ITIL Foundation which will give you an insight into how an IT service desk works.

The CCENT isnt a bad exam to do for someone who is in charge of a small network, maybe a beginner shouldnt really do the exam, but the learning is worthwhile although there is no guarantee you will ever work with Cisco kit.

    Good luck
