I have already picked up a number of errors in the MS Press Book for the 70-680, along with typo's and incorrect information, and this is only within the first chapter... can someone clarify this for me though please.

What is the maximum amount of RAM for a 64bit version of Windows 7 Professional/Ultimate/Enterprise?

    Wikipedia states: 192gb
    MS Press Book states: 128gb

As a technical resource, I wouldn't trust Wikipedia as far as I could spit it. However in this case it would appear to be right. This may have changed since the book was sent to print, so it's always useful to check the errata of a book you're using as a primary study resource (linked to the MS site source and the errata for the MS Press book below :D)

    Thanks Arroryn, both spot-on resources!

The only thing I would add Shadowwebs, is that this is not an exam akin to the older "XP-MCP's". I'd not get too bogged-down with the numbers, the MCTS exam seems to be much more interested in situational knowledge of installing and configurnig the client. It doesn't cling to 'facts' as I found the 2 exams for the MCDST did before it.

That's really useful back for me Richy. I remember what the MCDST was like, but I have no idea what the new exams are like. I won't spend too much time memorising crap then ;)

Interestingly I found an error in Chapter 1 - Lesson 2, where it's information is incorrect:

    Q2.
SERVER02 is running Server Core. It is already configured with the AD DS role. You want to add Active Directory Certificate Services (AD CS) to the server. What must you do?

    - Install the Active Directory Certificate Services role.
    - Install the Active Directory Federated Services role.
    - Install the AD Rights Management Services role.
    - Reinstall the server as Windows Server 2008 R2 (Full Installation).

The answer is "- Reinstall the server as Windows Server 2008 R2 (Full Installation)." as "Correct: AD CS is not supported on Server Core, so you must reinstall the server with the full installation of Windows Server 2008 R2.".

The training material the page before states "Server Core supports the following server roles: Active Directory Certificate Services..."

But the online MS details indicate: "A limited set of server roles is available for a Server Core installation of Windows Server 2008 and for Windows Server 2008 for Itanium-based systems. AD CS cannot be installed on Server Core or Itanium-based installations of Windows Server 2008."

This is the second edition of the book but I haven't yet been able to find any errata, only the first edition which isn't too useful in this case :)

    Hi, thanks for the info.

But, are you sure we're talking about the same MS press book here?

This is for the 70-680 "Windows 7 - Configuring" exam.

I'm told that the May 2011 version of this book is without errors. Might be worth checking which version you have. I had the first published one coz it was cheaper on Amazon. I found myself reading through a rather large Errata. ;)
