I am definitely doing the 680, with the opportunity to progress onto the 686.

On my course we have a week of learning the materials in class for the 680, then it's self-study for about 4 weeks. Is this possible and are the exams similar to the CompTIA exams (A+, N+)?

I haven't looked into the exam/material a great deal yet, but I was wondering if anyone could tell me howww in depth it is and how much of a workload the first exam (680) and the second exam (686) is? ..as i work full time as part of my training and i'm worried about cramming all the information in, as well as doing the N+ exam/revision around the same time (slightly overlaps).

    Thanks guys.

the 70-680 is a big step up from the A+ and N+. Usually its recommended to do the MCDST after those but its being retired in June but it is now said to do the MCTS windows 7. Its all about administering windows 7 and setting it up, remote installations and that sort of thing.

prof messer has free tutorials and then there are books like the ms press books.

Rather confused.. I was under the impression that the 680, then 686 is the Win7 MCTS and MCITP? On my course description is says i'm doing the 70-685 then possibly 70-686, however our lecturer has been referring to it as 70-680?

Which would be correct? I am doing the "MCTS Win7"

70-680 gives you Technology Specialist in Windows 7: Configuring

If you then do the 70-685 that gives you Pro and also the MCITP EDST 7 (Enterprise Desktop Technician)

Then if you do the 70-686 that gives you Pro and MCITP EDA 7 (Enterprise Desktop Administrator)

My advice would be to do 70-680 then the 70-685, the 70-686 is more about designing a windows 7 infrastructure which means you should have exposure to deployment technology, licensing, group policy etc
