Sorry, another passed thread. Got the MS Press Kit through and been working through the presskit practice tests and reading through chapter 2 and 5, the 2 chapters i identified as having problems with and took my proper test today.

Couple of things though, the final test was a lot harder than the practice tests yet i passed the final test but failed most of the practice tests, go figure.

Onto 272 now, how hard is 272 compared to 271 and where would you recommend going after i passed the 272?

Ive got my resit next friday. I sat 271 and 272 back to back and passed 272 and failed 271. I personally found 272 MUCH easier but its down to your experience really!

 

Well done!! I am in the same boat as you. I am studying for the 271 next Fri. (a bit superstitious about taking an exam on Friday the 13th I guess...) and am getting loads wrong on the MS Press practice exam. Hopefully, I will still be in the same boat as you next week having passed.

Congrats on the pass. I found studying for the 271 more interesting but scored better on the 272 which I found rather dry. Anyway, good luck.

From my experience of the 271, a lot of the questions were dealing with dns and dhcp stuff over the network and networking/permissions stuff so that's an area you might want to concentrate on. Had to do 49 questions and scored 849.

 

Just a quick question, you have the mcdst, is there much point in also covering 270 as well?

 

I guess that depends on what you are planning for your next cert and what you see as your career track. If you are going for the MCSA (or MCSE), you will need to take and pass a client exam like the 270 - you can also take the Vista client exam, but because you already have the MCDST you should already have a head start in XP.

Thankyou everyone . Gonna order 272 presskit tomorrow, so hopefully get it for Tuesday, book the exam for a week on Friday, MCDST by then hopefully

I passed 271 in 2 weeks and 272 is supposed to be a little easier anyway. Reason i passed it so quickly though is due to my years of experience of supporting XP.
