You are the network manager for certforums.co.uk and you have configured a Windows 2000 Server to provide file storage for the users. The file server has a single 160 GBytes hard disk, and about 4 GBytes are used the operating system and applications. All of the users are instructed stored their files in shared folder created on the file server.
After a couple of months you notice that the file server is running out of disk space. You work out that if usage contiues at the current rate, the disk will run out of room within the month. You purchase another 160 GBytes hard disk for the file storage. What should you do to provide more hard disk space for the user whilst not change how the users save their their files? Select all that apply. Your answer must take the least administrative time

    A) Convert the new hard disk to dynamic disk.

    B) Convert both hard disks to dynamic disks.

    C) Extend the existing hard disk to the new hard disk.

    D) Mirror the existing hard disk to the new hard disk.

    E) Create a mount point in the existing hard disk that points to the new hard disk.

    F) Create a spanned volume with the existing and the new hard disks.

Sad to say, I just haven't had time to research this one. I'll trust the armadillo's judgment and go with E as well.

Only 2 takers on this one, must have been the football :(

    Correct answer is: E

Explanation: To increase more hard disk space for the Finance users, you can either extend the existing hard disk to the new hard disk or create a mount point in the existing hard disk that points to the new hard disk. However, the file server has only a single hard disk. Even after converting it from basic disk to dynamic disk, you will not be able to extend it, because it is both a SYSTEM and BOOT volume. Therefore, the only way left is to create a mount point to the new hard disk.
Mirror volume is not suitable in this question since it is designed to provide fault tolerance. A spanned volume is incorrect, because when creating a spanned volume, you must select the unallocated space rather the space that had been used. Dynamic disk is not required to create a mount point.
