    Good morning all,

Does anyone know how long the mcsa/e 2008 exams will be valid for?

I'm looking to start getting some ms qualifications, and am torn between the 2008 path or the 2012 path - has anyone any suggestions?

Obvious advantages to the 2008 path are actual experience with the product and the amount of books & resources available however clearly the 2012 path will be valid for longer.

Curious to hear any thoughts from anyone doing the same and which path they have chosen?

    Thanks,

    Craig

The general written thing is that they are valid until they have superceeded by two versions of the technology. e.g Win 8 > Win 7 > Win Vista

Best advice is take the exam on the technology you are using, because the exams are heavily weighted to the new technology each revision brings.

That probably answers your own question.

Remember that there are always upgrade exams from one version to the newer one once you've gained that first cert.

I would go for 2008 as 2012 materials are very thin on the ground atm. I wouldn't worry too much about validity - my MCSA:Security on Windows Server 2003 is still valid!

Thanks for the replies all, you've confirmed my suspicions.

Wasn't aware of the 2 versions rule, thanks for that Ade.
