    Howdy,

I am new to this forum but almost read most posts  and I just need to know whether I can earn at least £1000 for a month with CCNA, MCP and BCS Diploma Certifications in London. I have no previous experience in private section but I worked in public school as Computer Assistant and in British Council for a short period of time. I live in Sri Lanka at this moment and hope to move in London in two months. :):)

yes it is possible, however, the IT job market is extremely competitive there are many skilled applicants applying for the same positions. Also I don't think your target wage is realistic if you plan to live in London.

are you moving here as a student? to be a student ..... you didnt state that!

I presumed from your post that you where looking for full time employment.

London has generally higher living costs. However, that could also depend on which area you plan to live in.

But you wouldn't be a student over here would you? And if you are then you have academic fees on top of what ever other costs you have which include cost of living (Rent, food, travel costs), it's expensive.

If you live in London then the rent will kill you, if you live further out where it's cheaper the travel costs will kill you. Then there is the food costs, which if you want to eat at all you will need to buy. Then there is actually living, because you won't simply be working, sleeping, eating, you will want to socialise at some point.

To give you some idea, if you want to travel on the London Underground you are looking at approx £5 - 6 per day. When I work in London (I live about 1 hour away by train) the fares cost me £400, that excludes the cost of travelling when I am actually in London.

If this is indeed the case, as a non-EU student he may not be able to legally work when in the country. Had better check this out.

Yeah i am just outside london £1000 wouldn't cover my travel expenses and 1 bed room flat rent combined alone!

You also find that house prices outside london are now higher because people like to commute and live outside in more rural areas.

What's that I smell? Abuse of the student visa system? Sure sounds like it. Unless he's planning on earning £1000pcm on 10 hours a week... Not that many part-time networking jobs (one and a half days a week) paying 25 quid an hour for a man with zero commercial experience.

Don't worry. I can assure you from what my language school has been told, the Border Agency are really coming down hard now on students. They need to have at least 80 % attendance, addresses checked and work (employment) monitored.

I think that maybe changing after yesterdays announcements by the Queen, PM and mini PM (sorry deputy)
certainly immigration for non-EU members is to be capped and have a harsher points system.

It think the NHS are worried about this because some parts of the country have a real shortage of GPs and need to recruit from abroad.

Turns out that you have to pay them if you don't live in the capital also!

To the OP: I visited your country recently, only for about 2hrs mind you, but Columbo airport was quite nice I thought. :)
