I notice nobody has put up the exam objectives for these new Adobe exams yet. I’ve attached them as simple text files.

These are entry level exams, and are pretty easy if you’ve done much work with the products at all. There is a little bit about the design process and web standards, as well as using the product. There are ‘studio 8’ exams for Flash and Dreamweaver, and CS3 exams for all three products. For the CS3 exams many of the questions are task-based using a simulation of the applications.

If you are a teacher/instructor you can get free exam vouchers. Contact the Certiport EMEA site if you are in the UK.

    Hi Stig,

What was/is the passing score for the ACA exam's for version 8/CS2 route? Or is disclosure of that against the NDA?

I should probably just go challenge the Photoshop CS3 exam. I've lived in the product so long that it feels like an extra limb to me now.

Can anyone recommend some good study material?

On second thought, I'm not sure the study material will be necessary. I've just reviewed the exam objectives and they seem rather...basic.

The pass score for the released Flash CS3 exam is 700, but that may not be true of the beta.

As I've said, these exams are very much 'entry level'. Adobe recognised that you need to have a lot of background design/print experience to pass ACP or ACE.

I don't know I missed this the first time around but thanks for files Stig. :)

Wag have you heard anything yet on your flash beta? Did you use anything special to study with and or just go by your exp?

Wagnerk should have got his Flash CS3 beta results by now, as the beta results were released in early March.

As for preparation, you should be OK if you're an everyday user of the products. According to the exam objectives, you will also need to know the basics of project specification and design, and know a little about web standards.

Thanks Stig, I am just starting out so it will be a while before I think I am ready for the exams. But I think I will try for them after I know the software inside and out. I just got my CS3 web premium Suite the other day, so I am really looking forward to the learning exp.:D

Hey Mitzs, found out that I failed the exam (not surprised)- but considering that I only had 2 days working/studying it I didn't think that I did that bad.

Going to sit the Photoshop exam tomorrow, we'll see what I'll get on that.

After some delays, the Photoshop CS3 exam should be released on Tuesday 13th May.

The exam objectives are in the first post of this thread. The exam uses a combination of multiple-choice and task-based questions using a simulation of the Photoshop CS3 Extended application.

I have no news of passing scores as yet.

I'm probably being a bit lazy in asking this?, but...do i have to sit the ACA first or can i go straight to ACE.??

I have been using both flash and PS ( both CS3) for well over six months and i have good Actionscript knowledge. And as from what i hear, the ACA is for entry level, but i want a cert that reflects my skill set ( without sounding sure about myself).

    Cheers all

The ACA exams are completely unassociated with the ACE/ACP exams.

ACA is indeed entry level, roughly GCSE skill level. ACE is for professionals with industry experience.

This thread is about ACA; do you really mean ACP?

There is free courseware available from Adobe for ACA, but it's a bit of a long-winded way to prepare.

You really only need a working experience of the applications for ACA. If you look at the outlines in my first post you should be OK.

ACP requires a lot of industry experience regarding pre-press etc.
