Today I went to a job interview. What happened was I gave them my CV and they asked me questions such as:

    1. What is your salary expectations? I answered well the job role says we earn a starting salary of £21,000 a year.

    2. What exposure did you have to IT? I answered well I have got a degree in IT as well as one month volunteering at Citizen Advice Bureau as an IT support for once a week. I also started studying the COMPTIA A+ certification couple of days ago.

    3. Other applicants have applied to this job. What makes you suitable? Then I answered the transferable skills I gained from working at Primark such as customer service skills, skills I gained from my degree etc.

    4. Lastly she asked me If I know Active Directory, Server 2003, Server 2008 R2 64 Bit, Network infrastructure (their are more but I forgot)

After she finished asking me questions, she told me the history of the company such as its been operating for 3 years, they specialise in technical service etc. She also told me that they dont expect me to work in 1st/2nd line support all my life so after 6-12 months if I work hard they want to promote me to senior then to project manager. She then went to her project manager with my CV and spoke to her regarding how the interview went. After 10 minutes she came back and told me both of them decided I am well suited towards the job and would welcome me onto their team. But before that happens I have to pass the 5 exams I think its MCIP one of the certification. They told me the training is paid but however the exams are not as they dont want me to abuse by leaving it. The 5 exams together costs £450 and I have a deadline to pass it within 2 months.

So my questions do you think its worth for me to pay £450? As they say that once I pass all my exams I will be able to start my employment with them straight away.

Are you 100% sure this is a real company and not a training company that will place you afterwards?

Do you have anything in writing?

Passing 5 MS exams is hard enough for someone with experience, especially doing 1 exam per month, doing 5 within two months is difficult with one doesn't have experience. Not knocking your degree and your listed experience, but have you seen the MS exams and what they cover?

Mate, i would steer clear of this, i mean from your work exp and your degree, you wont have enough to pass all those exams in that amount of time. Any real IT pro will tell you experience is always they key. Plus i have never heard of any interview where someone consults a manager, for 10 mins and then comes out with an offer, seems somewhat to lure you in my opinion.

Dont pay any money to these people and keep looking for the job you want

Leave them alone mate, their domain name was only registered back in August, their last returns at Companies House (from their TA name of I.T. RECRUITMENT CONSULTANTS LIMITED) were back in 2008 and if I am honest my Spidey senses are tingling like mad here.

This smacks of a fly by night scam, of course I could be wrong but all the little bits I can see of this company strike me as someone here to try and make a quick buck and then disappear.

I had the same interview a month ago, it seemed like something from the Real Hustle, office was empty and under construction and was very make shift, the women who was interviewing seemed to have little experience in the IT field (and was very attractive I might add). The whole thing was shady from the start and can't believe city point has not realised that they are providing offices to this clear scam, I said I didn't have enough money to pay them while I went outside to "phone up relatives or friends for the money", I quickly searched them up on company house, saw what I needed and rejected and went.
