Hello everyone. I feel I am getting stuck, I was hoping that someone could help me... I have been studying C# for a year to defeat the 70-516 exam but twice I failed. I don't have any IT background and I am self-taught, I was now looking for qualifications with a lower level (I mean with less knowledge required), I was thinking about the CIW Foundation Site Development Associate and then move to CIW Web Development Professional. My ultimate goal is a change of career for Web Developer. Does CIW certifications worth it? Any recommendations? Will it give me enough knowledge to apply as Web Developer Trainee?
    Many thanks.

The Microsoft MCTS certifications are designed for those already working in the industry with relevant experience.

The CIW certifications cover basic 101 stuff about the web, its good stuff to know as a foundation, but they are unlikely to impress an employer.

Why not consider a Foundation Degree ?

Alternatively why not create a lot of good original work and showcase it to employers ?

If you have little experience, then an MS cert is not the thing to be pursuing.
CIW do offer nice courses for beginners.
The cert may not impress employers, but if you are looking for somewhere to start, this would be an option.

Ultimately though, if your objective is to learn, then I can't recommend something like the OU highly enough.

I have started the CIW Stuff. They are set out for beginners and cover some decent stuff as you progress through them.

I don't think you can get a definite job from them although my opinion is that a Certificate to validate your knowledge is not going to harm things either! This combined with a portfolio of work is how I am trying to move on.

Foundations should only be completed if you are a novice and do not have a good knowledge of HTML/XHTML.

I have studied the Web Design Specialist here:CIW Web Design Specialist

I am now thinking about the Web Development Professional which will move in to Perl, JavaScript and Database Admin.

    If you have this

Sorry fogot to ask. Any other recommended Web Design Qualifications? Someone mentioned Foundations Degree, can this be done as Distance Learning through the OU or other suppliers?

Foundation Degrees can be done by Distance Learning but I think its better to attend a college where you can attend classes if you can, you will get far more out of it.
